Head of DevOps (Remote)
Experience: 10–15 years (with 5+ years in DevOps leadership)
About the Role
We are looking for a Head of DevOps to own and scale our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and platform reliability. This role will lead the DevOps function end-to-end, drive automation, security, and performance, and partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Security teams to support rapid and reliable product delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
Define and execute the DevOps strategy, roadmap, and best practices across the organization
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing DevOps / SRE team
Establish SLAs, SLOs, and reliability standards across environments
Collaborate closely with Engineering leadership to improve deployment velocity and system stability
Infrastructure, Cloud & Platform
Own and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS / Azure / GCP
Design scalable, highly available, and cost-optimized architectures
Lead Infrastructure as Code initiatives using Terraform / CloudFormation
Manage and scale containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes
Configure and manage NGINX and HAProxy for traffic routing and load balancing
CI/CD & Automation
Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitLab (self-managed), GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.
Own and maintain on-prem, self-managed GitLab with end-to-end automation
Drive automation across build, test, deployment, and infrastructure provisioning
Reduce deployment failures and MTTR through tooling and process improvements
Reliability, Monitoring & Security
Implement and manage observability platforms including:
Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Alertmanager, NetData
Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and post-mortems
Partner with Security teams to enforce DevSecOps best practices
Manage edge security, CDN, and proxy layers using Cloudflare (Workers, R2, Security, Auditing, Proxy)
Databases & Application Operations
Oversee performance, availability, and reliability of databases and caches:
PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, MongoDB, Redis
Support and manage Node.js administration in production environments
Required Skills & Qualifications
10–15 years of experience in DevOps / Infrastructure / SRE roles
5+ years of experience leading DevOps or Platform teams
Strong expertise in Linux, networking, and system architecture
Deep hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and IaC
Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Nice to Have
Experience in SaaS / B2B / high-scale platforms
Strong exposure to microservices architecture
FinOps / cloud cost optimization experience
Prior experience building DevOps from scratch or scaling teams rapidly
